What exactly is a Loop Sound, Sounds Loop and Construction Kit?
My favorite things to do is to create Sample Sound Loops, Loop Sound and Construction Kits!!!
I just love creating unique, one of a kind, hand-made sounds and textures ....too much fun.
So you might be asking what are these things you love so much and how do I use them to be creative? Well, I'm going to break it down and go step by step and go through the differences.
The term "Loop" is an audio file that can be any instrument or sound and is usually somewhat short. Think of a "loop" in the way you would a "word" in a sentence; it's used as the basic building block of a songs and compositions, just like the "word" forms part of a sentence and paragraph. Similarly a "word" and "loop" can stand on its own; but more often is used with other "loops" that then form complete compositions/paragraphs. The term "loop" now has come to mean a piece of audio that is used as simply a piece of a song, production or track and it's regardless of whether the "loop" is used and looped throughout the entire song or just used one time. The word "loop" can be any instrument, it can be guitars, drums, bass, percussion....any type of instrument is fair game to become a loop. Loops also can be various lengths of audio files that range from the simple two-bar loop to entire songs.
The term "sample" is used to describe any piece of audio that has been recorded digitally. This would be the smallest part of the loop. I like to think of the word "sample" like I do "cell" in the body. A "cell" is the smallest piece of human; and in the same way as a "sample" is the smallest part of the "loop".
A "sound or sample library" is a collection of music sounds loops and or music samples. A "library" is typically a collection of sound samples or loop sounds within a specific genre or theme. You could have a "Guitar Loops Library" or a "Piano Samples Library"; ect. These are usually sold via DVD-ROM and sometimes CD-ROM. Some companies are now even making the libraries downloadable. Sample Sound Loops gives songwriters and composers the ability to download each and every sounds loops and loop libraries!!!
This brings up yet another useful type of sounds library and that is the "construction kit". "Construction Kits" are various loops that usually contain many instruments and patterns (i.e. guitars, bass, drums, pianos, percussion; etc). These are extremely useful for creating quick song demos and even finished master tracks. The trick is that when you add up the various construction kit elements together, you have a completed section of a track. I do advise you to be careful. Even though is way of creating is a very easy way of creative, be careful that it doesn't make you unoriginal. I absolutely love using the construction kits; but I will only try using a few elements together. You can do many things to be creative with construction kits. You should absolutely be unique and experiment with them.
